Gardening therapy grows away from a, ‘just add water’ culture. Family gardening nourishes communication, respect for emotions, and builds resilience.
Plants need water in order to survive and grow; but it’s more than, ‘just adding water’. Water needs to be added: gradually, regularly, carefully and accordingly, just like how humans need warmth, care, and support.
As parents we carry our own complex needs and challenges, denying so would be panglossian. Sometimes the need to survive can silently outgrow our roles as parents; usurping our energy as we forget to: hug, cuddle and praise our children.
Goodlifegardening is a way to nourish children emotionally. By focussing on gardening with Muhammad and Yusuf I hope to grow their self-esteem, resilience, patience and our family ties.
At the root of this blog lays the primary purpose of helping families grow to live a good life. Why? It’s simple, happy children will grow into happy adults.
